- **Event Description**: Youterus Health is hosting a screening of Below the Belt, an award-winning PBS documentary that follows four patients with endometriosis as they search for a diagnosis, fight to be believed, and challenge a healthcare system that has been failing people with uterine conditions for decades.
Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing chronic pain, infertility, and serious organ complications. Around 200 million people worldwide have it. 50% of all infertility in women is linked to endometriosis. People lose an average of 11 hours per week in productivity because of the condition. And it costs the global economy $119 billion a year.
Despite all of this, the average time to get a diagnosis is still 10 years.

What to expect:

We will start with a welcome and a quick introduction to endometriosis and why this conversation matters for uterine health in Sierra Leone. Then we screen the film (50 minutes, international version). After that, we will have an open panel discussion where everyone is welcome to ask questions, share experiences, or simply listen.
